ESCP Business School is more than just an academic institution. It’s a place where generations come together, sharing common values and forging unbreakable bonds. A few days ago, we celebrated mothers. Today, we’re sharing the stories of two mother-child duos that perfectly illustrate this intergenerational connection.

Séverine Gisserot (ESCP 92) still remembers her first day at ESCP, amazed by the opportunities that lay ahead. Today, she proudly watches her son, Briac Gisserot (MiM 24), walk those same halls, ready to write his own chapter in their family’s ESCP story.

Similarly, Annabelle Azoulay (ESCP 2000) has always spoken passionately about her years at ESCP. Her daughter, Gabriela Moréel (BSc 26), grew up hearing these inspiring stories and chose to follow in her mother’s footsteps, continuing this academic and familial legacy.

What do you remember about your time at ESCP and how has it influenced your career?

"I was one of the first students to take a gap year. These four years enabled me to choose my career path, but also to meet a lot of friends with whom I've remained very close, not forgetting my husband - and Briac's dad - with whom we'll be celebrating thirty years of marriage in June.”

What inspired you to follow your mother's footsteps by joining ESCP?

“My parents both met at ESCP, so the influence of this school is not just limited to my mother, but also concerns my father. I'm proud to now follow in their footsteps at this institution that shaped their lives and mine in the process.”

Briac GISSEROT (MiM 24), Séverine's son

How do you feel about your child following in your footsteps at ESCP?

“It's a great source of pride, but also a great joy that he can experience the same happiness as I have from these years rich in meetings and discoveries.”

How do you think your career at ESCP will be similar to or different from your mother's?

“As a Financial Director, my mother exposed me to the world of finance from an early age, awakening in me an early interest in this field. This closeness to her job influenced my first professional steps and nurtured in me a deep desire to evolve in this sector.”

Briac GISSEROT (MiM 24), Séverine's son

What important values or lessons do you think you've transmitted to your child that are rooted in your years at ESCP?

“The importance of this skilful mix of theoretical courses, friendships and practical application through internships. And the international scope that is now the DNA of our school, and which was characterized by the EAP during my time.”

What is the most important value or lesson you learned from your mother that helped you the most during your time at ESCP?

“The most valuable lesson my mother transmitted to me is that success requires hard work, because nothing is gained without effort. It was this wisdom that motivated me to give my best to get my internships and to pursue my academic ambitions with determination.”

Briac GISSEROT (MiM 24), Séverine's son

What is your shared vision of ESCP Business School, and how would you describe the impact of your time together at the same school?

“Even if Briac heads for a different career from mine, we'll forever have in common the fact that we sat in the same rooms learning the same things, and bonus for him with that international openness that makes him a true citizen of the world.”

Séverine GISSEROT (ESCP 92), Briac's mother

“I think we've both taken full advantage of our time at ESCP, both academically but also in creating strong friendships that endure over time, as well as discovering new cultures through travel, which trains youth."

What do you remember about your time at ESCP and how has it influenced your career?

”I have fantastic memories of my ESCP years. After two intense years of prep school, I got involved in the school's associations, made some exceptional friendships and discovered new courses that later shaped my career choices. I also met my husband on the school benches!"

Annabelle AZOULAY (ESCP 2000), Gabriela's mother

What inspired you to follow your mother's footsteps by joining ESCP?

“My parents met there in 1996, which made me familiar with ESCP from an early age. So I always knew that it was a prestigious school training the talents of tomorrow. By following in their footsteps, I hope not only to honor their careers, but also to thrive in the environment that forged their success.”

Gabriela MOREEL (BSc 26), Annabelle's daughter

How do you feel about your child following in your footsteps at ESCP?

“I'm very proud of Gabriela and her choice to live the ESCP experience internationally with a year in London, a year in Turin and a year in Paris.”

How do you think your career at ESCP will be similar to or different from your mother's?

“Even though we went to the same school, it's a totally different path in my opinion. ESCP has come a long way since my mother's promo. In her day, the Bachelor program, which I joined in 2023, didn't exist. Today, ESCP offers a multitude of high-quality courses, which makes this institution an exceptional school.”

Gabriela MOREEL (BSc 26), Annabelle's daughter

What important values or lessons do you think you've transmitted to your child that are rooted in your years at ESCP?

“For me, the ESCP years are really about exploring many different paths and being curious about everything. When you're lucky enough to have access to it, you have to take advantage of these multiple opportunities and commit yourself completely.”

Annabelle AZOULAY (ESCP 2000), Gabriela's mother

What is the most important value or lesson you learned from your mother that helped you the most during your time at ESCP?

“The most valuable lesson my mother taught me was self-confidence. She always encouraged me to believe in my abilities and to face challenges with confidence. This self-confidence is particularly valuable during my time at ESCP, both academically and in my social relationships.”
