Madrid Alumni : "Democratizing high-speed rail in Spain, democratizing ecology" November 29

Dear Alumnae and Alumni,

Les Grandes Ecoles au Féminin Spain is pleased to invite you to a meeting with

HÉLÈNE VALENZUELA, General Manager, Ouigo Spain.

"Democratizing high-speed rail in Spain, democratizing ecology".

Wednesday, November 29, 2023, 6:45pm

Calle Alfonso XII, 62. 28014 Madrid

We'll have the privilege of welcoming and debating with Hélène Valenzuela, Managing Director of Ouigo, the Spanish subsidiary of SNCF Voyageurs, which has introduced a high-speed train accessible to all in Spain.

Hélène Valenzuela's background includes both an excellent education - preparatory classes at Henri IV and studies at ESCP - and a broad knowledge of the rail sector, where she has spent her entire career. Hélène Valenzuela was head of new destination development at Eurostar in 2012, before heading up operations at Thalys and then SNCF Réseau, with a team of over 11,000 employees under her command, before coming to Madrid in 2019 to take on the challenge of launching the Ouigo high-speed train in the middle of COVID.

It took a woman of her calibre to bring this large-scale project to fruition in a country where the high-speed train was still an exclusive means of transport. Today, Ouigo has carried over 7 million passengers, and its trains boast a 95% occupancy rate. It seems that the key to such success lies in the values that Hélène Valenzuela will tell us about: liberalization, professionalism in work and leadership, and ecology.

Hélène Valenzuela has been a member of the French Foreign Trade Advisors network since 2008, as well as the Board of the French-Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

For the past 20 years, Grandes Écoles au Féminin has brought together alumni of France's leading business schools (Polytechnique, Mines, Sciences Po, HEC, ESSEC, ESCP...) to promote the place of women in the professional sphere. In Paris, top executives such as Catherine MacGregor (CEO ENGIE) and Christel Heydemann (CEO Orange) have contributed to this objective by presenting their career paths as part of the association. We look forward to expanding this activity with GEF Spain, and to welcoming you around Hélène Valenzuela.

Meet us on Wednesday November 29 at 6:45pm at the Ouigo Spain office, Calle Alfonso XII 62, 4a planta, 28014 Madrid. We'll start at 7pm with a fascinating tour of the site, followed by an interview with Hélène Valenzuela and an aperitif at 8:30pm.

The event will be held in Spanish and is limited to 15 people.

Registration required with online payment (€35).
