Cinema marketing

Thanks to the next debate on Wednesday October 26, you'll finally discover everything you've always wanted to know about cinema marketing, but were afraid to ask... How does a film meet its audience?

In 2011, as in 2010, attendance records are multiplying, and the public's enthusiasm for the cinema is constantly renewed. Yet every week, between ten and twenty new films are released, and they need to find their audience. What strategies do distributors put in place to enable their films to emerge from this vast offer?

Distributors' release strategies are based on their anticipations. Some films are calibrated to be popular successes, while others are aimed at a more targeted or more confidential audience. But every year, the box office reserves its share of surprises. La Séparation and La Guerre est déclarée have had brilliant careers. Their quality partly explains this success, but many other very good films have not been so lucky. How do their distributors explain this? Aren't surprise box office successes above all the fruit of a well-thought-out release strategy and a good knowledge of the audience?

The speakers at this meeting have contributed to the success of many recent films. We'll try to understand how they orchestrated their work to connect with audiences.
