Become a mentor

Passing on to future generations is keeping the ESCP network spirit alive. Every year, hundreds of students seek guidance, inspiration, and support in their career choices. And who better than you, as experienced Alumni who have faced the same doubts and questions, to accompany them?

Why get involved?

Being a mentor means giving a little of your time each month, sharing your experience and professional advice. It’s also about building a trusting, human and enriching relationship with your mentee(s), as well as for yourself.

That’s not all: it also means contributing to the network’s momentum and promoting the School’s values among tomorrow’s leaders.

How does the programme work?

1. Create your mentor profile in your ESCP Alumni space:

Go to the ‘Mentoring’ module in your personal space to complete your profile in just a few minutes: sector of activity, company, country, introductory text, etc.

The more detailed your description, the more relevant and useful the connections will be.

2. Matching:

Students choose their mentor from among the available profiles.

Once selected, you will receive a notification email, and your mentee will then contact you to initiate the exchange.

3. A flexible format:

Communication via email, video chat, text messages or over coffee: each pair chooses the pace and mode of communication that suits them best.

Mentoring can be done remotely, wherever you are in the world.

A few tips to get started well

The goal of mentoring is very simple: to establish a relationship of trust, based on listening, sharing and kindness, keeping in mind a few simple principles:

  • Share your experience authentically: career path, professional choices, successes and challenges.
  • Offer an external perspective on a resume, a pitch, career direction, or interview preparation.
  • Communicate in the format that suits best: emails, calls, video chats, occasional meetings… including remotely.
  • Build a human connection, informally: commitment is voluntary, according to availability and willingness to support.

Would you like to share your advice with one or more ESCP students? The mentoring programme starts every autumn, with mentor registrations opening from summer, ahead of the campus term.
